John S's TOP 10 MOVIE PICKS.

These movies could be in some particular order of importance.(-;

  1. The Day The Earth Stood Still  A sobering movie with all too real implications for today's world. Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal's performances are superb in this film. The possibility that this movie was a carefully thought out precursor to scarier and not so well written films of this genre yet to come can not be ignored.

  2. Earth vs. The Flying Saucers  Another good film about aliens invading! The aliens make their presence first known by shooting down the governments satellite launching rockets during "Operation Sky Hook". A well written film with solid acting by:

  3. The Man With Two Brains  A hilarious movie! If you like laughing hard then this is the movie. Steve Martin as the love sick caretaker of his detached girl friend's brain, goes out of his way to save what remains in the jar from the evil brain surgeon.

  4. Back To School  Another incredibly funny movie! Rodney Dangerfield  get an education but still gets no respect from his son or the administration of the college.

  5. The Arrival  A hauntingly powerful movie! The possibility that aliens would terra-form the Earth in an attempt to make conditions here favorable for colonization is not that far out of a possibility. What's that I've been hearing concerning "global warming"?

  6. Forbidden Planet  A fine screen adaptation of a story based on Shakespeare's play "The Tempest". Colonists of the green-skied world Altair IV are nearly all destroyed by a mysterious dark force. Dr. Morbius (Walter Pigeon) and his daughter (Ann Francis) along with new arrivals to the planet, discover the hidden secrets of the Krel, a long extinct race.  In learning to translate the Krel's advanced language they unlock the mystery of what killed their fellow colonists! A pioneering film whose ideas and style would be reverse-engineered into cinematic films to come.
